R14: DMaaP and Kafka updates
-
To Do
See https://wiki.onap.org/display/DW/Deprecation+and+Removal+of+DMaaP+Message+Router
Background
The Policy Framework uses DMaaP as its asynchronous messaging protocol. A common utility library is used to provide DMaaP as a communication mechanism to the rest of the Policy Framework components. All of the components other than Xacml and Drools now support the use of Kafka natively in deployment
Purpose
As part of upgrades to the policy components and prevention of future DMAAP related vulnerabilities, there is a plan to remove DMAAP from the policy components and fully support Kafka in both deployment and testing.
Scope
- Drools Apps not working at all - even with DMAAP - needs to be fixed
- Get drools and xacmlworking with Kafka rather than DMAAP
- Check that all asynchronous messaging continues to work
- Convert DMAAP simulator to use Kafka. Simulate our interface in Kafka
- Convert unit tests, s3ps, CSITs to use Kafka
- Start to remove the unused DMAAP code
- clones
