DCAE team indicated that as long as the Openstack DNS API (v2, which is the current version, documented at https://developer.openstack.org/api-ref/dns/) for DNSaaS is supported, and the resulting changes are visible (after expiry of any relevant DNS time to live, if not sooner), to anything needing to do the corresponding DNS lookups – curl, wget, nslookup, dig, etc., running on any machine, or in any container, running any application that needs to perform such a DNS lookup, DCAE is fine. The “how to deploy Designate” is not visible to DCAE, and therefore is irrelevant. They don’t even care if the implementation is based on Designate.
Based on such information, we can safely assume that each cloud (AIC, or WindRiver, or VIO) each will have its own DNS service to support DCAE.
Note that the client/user of DNS Service can be running on any machine etc., but it is irrelevant of DNS Service deployment itself.
