It seems that the root pom.xml definition of checkstyle sources directory has an incorrect path which results in checkstyle issues not being reported when a mvn compile or mvn clean install runs.

We need to ensure that when a code review is submitted, the jenkin's verify job picks up these issues and fails the compile so the submitter is required to fix them before the merge.
