In the startup.sh script the new conditions are never reached (Gerrit ID 90359).

The $? command returns the status of executing of the last command (in the script 'date' command always end successfully), so the 'if' statement is never reached.

When an error appears during create the database keyspaces/schemas, the script doesn't behave correctly.
